Competing for a national title and looking to bounce back in the desert. That's what we have on the Bruin calendar today. First, the UCLA gymnastics team will compete in the NCAA Super Six, the final round of the NCAA Championships, with the winner taking home the national title. The Bruins won the afternoon session yesterday and are the top-seeded team so you have to think they have a good chance at the program's sixth title and UCLA's 105th overall. The Bruins will start on the vault when competition gets underway at 3 pm PDT and there is both live stats and live streaming video. In addition, we have one of our very own, TheTJCummingsEra, there and he'll have updates live from the arena in Gainesville on his twitter.
After that, the UCLA baseball team will try to turn things around when they face off against Arizona. Gerrit Cole (6-1, 2.98 ERA) will be on the mound for UCLA as they look to improve upon their recent play that's netted them three losses in their last four. Cole will be opposed by Kurt Heyer, a stud freshman who is 6-0 with a 2.15 ERA. I've already previewed the series if you want the detailed information, but the short of it is that this is a big series for the Bruins if they want to grab a national seed and win the Pac-10. You can follow along on GameTracker or on my UCLA baseball twitter. Arizona also provides an online video stream, but I it requires a $10 fee to get a monthly subscription to their All-Access content. Occasionally, they do offer games free so it's worth checking just in case.
This is your open thread as the Bruins go for national title #105 and a win against a top-20 team in Tucson. It's a big day in UCLA athletics and softball is also playing at a top-ten team in Stanford tonight. For this big day, we've got this open thread and it's all yours. Keep everyone updated on what's going on, share your opinions, thoughts or questions. Anything and everything is fair game so have at it. Big day, big thread.
