So home lately hasn't been very sweet for our baseball team. John Savage's bunch has pulled off some great road series wins during this Pac-10 season against Oregon State, Arizona and Washington. Yet the excitment generated by those wins (prior to the sweep against the Huskies) were dampened by a tough series loss against George Horton's Oregon Ducks and a sobering sweep in the hands of powerful ASU Sun Devils.
The Bruins came back from Washington with some signs of renewed momentum but then went on to lose in what appeared to be (at least in the scorecard) a lackluster performance against struggling UCI earlier this week. It will be interesting to see if they can regain momentum against Southern Cal Trojans tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Ryan already set up the series last night with previews on all the pitching matchups. The question for me is whether our hitter will come through for Gerrit Cole, Trevor Bauer and Rob Rasmussen. We should be favored on paper against the Trojans but you never know when emotion of rivalry games loom as a potential (IMHO a big one) factor.
The first pitch is scheduled for tonight at 6 pm PST. You can also follow along with GameTracker or get updates on Ryan's UCLA baseball twitter. So might as well thread this as our game thread with updates, thoughts, analysis and anything else.
GO BRUINS.
