So UCLA's wonderful regular season is coming to an end this weekend. Bruins (41-12, 16-8) are entering the final weekend of college baseball's regular season having won 7 of its last 8 games. Cal State Fullerton snapped our 7 game winning streak on Tuesday but that shouldn't damper the excitement heading into this weekend's important series against another red hot team in Washington State (33-18, 14-10). Bruins should have a regional bid all locked up by now but this series will have ramifications on Bruins chances in getting a national seed.
This is also the last regular season home series for Bruin seniors. Blair Dunlap and Justin Uribe have been two of UCLA's key offensive weapons all season. Uribe ranks second on the team with a .351 batting average with a .434 on-base percentage. Dunlap has had a monster season. He has the fifth best team hitting average .332, fifth-best on the ballclub, ranks second on the team with 63 hits, and he leads the Bruins with 18 doubles and is tied for the team lead with 100 total bases. Hopefully they will have a solid ending to their last season by winning their last regular season series at home.
The first pitch is scheduled for tonight at 6:00 pm PST. You can also follow along with GameTracker or get updates on Ryan's UCLA baseball twitter. So might as well thread this as our game thread with updates, thoughts, analysis and anything else.
GO BRUINS.
