In case you missed it there was an incredible Bruin come back last night at Easton Stadium. Apparently they were just one out away from being no-hit by the Bears. That is when rallied with two outs, as freshman B.B. Bates hit a three-run, walk-off homer to give 5th ranked UCLA a 3-1 victory over number 13 California. Here is the video recap after that huge emotional win:
The Bruins have now won 11 in a row to improve to 38-9 overall and 12-5 in Pac-10 play. Earlier on Friday Bruins won the game by a score of 4-2. You can check the video recap of Friday's win here. More on last night's incredible game after the jump.
Here is the official site on yesterday's dramatics:
UCLA was held without a hit for 6 2/3 innings until coming through with two down in the bottom of the seventh. Senior Julie Burney ended Jolene Henderson's no-hit bid with a double to center and senior Kaila Shull extended the inning with a walk on a 3-2 pitch. That brought up Bates, who fouled off the first pitch and then took a ball before hitting her third home run of the season to left-center to send the Bruins into a massive celebration at home plate.
Senior Megan Langenfeld earned the victory to improve to 8-1 on the season, striking out one and allowing just two hits in 5 2/3 shutout innings. Langenfeld retired the final 11 batters she faced, setting down the side in order in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Bruins wrap their three-game series and home stand against Bears today at Easton Stadium. It should be a pretty emotional and special day as the ladies will look to go out on to on Seniors and Bruin Mom's day. You should consider heading out there and rooting on the blue and gold. The first pitch is scheduled for 12 pm PST.
GO BRUINS.
