So we started the last game thread by talking about all the "firsts" we have been fortunate to experience this season. Team record for victories, hosting games for super regionals, setting strike out records (Trevor Bauer) and getting over that Fullerton hump. Well today UCLA baseball (50-14) can experience another first by getting themselves into the program's first every championship series at Omaha.
The odds are going to be against the Bruins tonight. They are going up against a TCU team (53-13), which has been adopted by the all mighty ESPN as the "darlings of Omaha." It will be up to Jeff Gelalich, Cody Regis, Beau Amaral and rest of the Bruin hitters to come through with another team performance this afternoon on the biggest stage of college baseball. Meanwhile, it will be Rob Rasmussen who will take the mound for our Bruins, who will go up against All World Matt Purke (15-0, 3.03 ERA).
The first pitch is scheduled for this evening at 1:30 pm PST. You can also follow along with GameTracker or get updates on Ryan's UCLA baseball twitter. So might as well thread this as our game thread with updates, thoughts, analysis and anything else.
GO BRUINS.
