I am sure Ryan will have a thorough recap once he is done enjoying the sights and sounds of Rustenburg (great effort by the US team even in a tough loss against Ghana). In the meantime though there is no reason for us not to start enjoying ourselves in a special post game victory thread celebrating our first appearance in the Championship Series of CWS.
That's right our UCLA Bruins (51-15) a little while ago knocked out the All Mighty TCU Horned Frogs (54-14) by a score of 10-3. Here is the box score. Trevor Bauer was of course the story in Omaha (even though the announcers spend most of the afternoon groveling all over TCU's catcher and Matt Purke). He put together an unreal, freakish show in 120+ degrees heat with an 8 innings, 13 K performance, giving up just 2 ER and throwing a career high 135 pitches. Simply amazing. Bruin hitters were relentless as they got started with a 5 run first inning spearheaded by bomb from Blair Dunlanp.
Bruins are now going to wait to find out who their next opponent by watching tonight's game between Clemson and USC (that's right). The first pitch for that game is scheduled for 7 pm EST. So congrats to Bauer and the Bruins. Here is our post game victory thread.
GO BRUINS.
