Reeves Nelson is back. Coach Ben Howland announced today that he reinstated Nelson and that he is going to return to practice tomorrow. There was no official practice today. Nelson will also get to travel with the team to Maui Invitational this weekend (hey a free trip never hurts, okay kidding).  Here is Howland's statement posted on the official site:

"After much deliberation, I have decided to reinstate Reeves Nelson," said UCLA Men's Basketball Coach Ben Howland. "Reeves understands that his reinstatement is contingent on his ability to continually meet the high standards we have established for all UCLA men's basketball players. He expressed to me in our meeting earlier today that he desires to be a better person and better teammate going forward, and, given that, I feel as though I should give him that opportunity."

Nelson's official statement also hits the right notes:

"I acknowledge there are corrections that need to be made and I'm grateful to Coach Howland to have this opportunity to improve and work on being a positive force for our team," said Nelson. "I appreciate the support of my teammates and will be there for them as we move forward."

Well, welcome back Reeves.

We are all grateful that Reeves did right thing by not quitting at first sign of adversity. I will be personally rooting hard for his Bruin redemption. I am rooting for Coach Ben Howland. I am crossing my fingers for those silver linings in UCLA basketball.  I will end with perhaps my favorite quote from Coach:

"Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out."

Let's get it.

GO BRUINS.
