One of my all time favorite lines from Coach:
"Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out."
Last few days or I should say weeks/months/years have been tough for UCLA alums, students and fans, who follow every detail around our two major revenue programs. At this point, I don't think there is not much to be gained to keep delving on the concerns around Jim Mora's qualifications to be the latest Bruin football coach.
We have made our concerns about his resume clear. We have also made our expectations for immediate success which includes putting together a great staff and closing strong on the recruiting trail, pretty clear. We have also made it clear how we are going to keep up with our relentless pressure on his "boss." We plan on sustaining our advocacy to finish up the second half of our demand for wholesale regime change in Westwood.
We will have plenty of time to talk up every issue around our program. We will make sure to keep an eye on all of Mora's upcoming decisions and moves and discuss in detail. All that said let's take some time to hear Jim Mora out a bit and welcome him as he gets ready to address his first public presser as the head coach of the UCLA Bruins.
The presser gets underway in minutes. You can watch it live by going here. We are not going to care much about the coach speak and clichés in this presser or the feel good talking points that may be delivered courtesy of the Morgan Center (we really hope he doesn't mention Coach Wooden just to fit in because it'd be kind of tacky). He needs to know that he is on "show, don't tell" mode from here on out. Let's hope he gets it done by making the best out of the way things have worked out to date.
So take a moment to officially welcome him as the new coach of our football program. If you are watching the presser live, please feel free to share to quick takes, reaction right here. The thread is all yours.
GO BRUINS.
