Congratulations to Coach Michael Sealy and all of the ladies on our women's volleyball team! The Bruins just finished their match in San Antonio, dropping the #3-seeded Illinois Fighting Illini by the score of 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 25-16). The ultimate honor of scoring the championship point fell to senior Sara Sage, who was set up by none other than super senior setter (try saying that three times fast) Lauren Van Orden.
In a tight match that was worthy of a national title game, the Bruins were led by none other than the junior sensation, Rachael Kidder, with 20 kills and 8 digs. Tabi Love got herself 14 kills. Lauren Van Orden put up an impressive 53 assists and 17 digs, while Kelly Reeves, Bojana Todorovic, and Lainey Gera picked up 16, 18, and 19 digs, respectively. Freshman standout Zoe Nightingale chipped in with a near double-double (8 kills, 10 blocks).
A phenomenal victory for Coach Sealy and these outstanding Bruins. Way to go ladies and once again, the national title is back where it belongs: Westwood.
