In the second of back-to-back midweek games, the Bruins host UCSB tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. After falling to Long Beach State last night, Scott Griggs will be taking the mound for his third start of the year, hoping to help build a new winning streak at the expense of the Gauchos. Griggs has seen limited time on the mound this season, logging 12 2/3 innings in 7 appearances to date in his sophomore season (1-0, 5.68 ERA, 15K/18BB!). As you can likely tell by his K/BB, he's got good raw stuff, but has some control issues.
Right-hander Nick Loredo (3-2, 4.03 ERA) takes the mound for the Gauchos. In his last start on April 26th, he lasted 3 innings in a victory over CSUN, allowing 2 earned runs off of 5 hits and 3 walks. Overall, UCSB is 20-21 for the season, tied for 6th in the Big West with a 6-9 conference record.
Game time at JRS is set for 6.00 pm.
