It's time to finish off the season and the Bruins have the chance to do that with a Pac-10 title. It will take some help from Oregon St., but it can be done. UCLA is tied with Arizona St. for second place in the conference, just one game behind the Beavers. OSU does have the tiebreaker over both so the Bruins and Sun Devils will both need help, namely from Oregon, who play the Beavers this weekend. The first matter of business for the two is getting wins though, and only one can do it because UCLA and Arizona St. play each other this weekend beginning tonight at 6:30 pm PDT.
UCLA will look to buck their recent trend of Friday struggles. The Bruins have lost five of their last six Friday games and Gerrit Cole will be charged with turning that around tonight. The right-hander is 5-7 on the year with a 3.27 ERA, but he did have success against the Sun Devils last year when he struck out nine and allowed just two runs in seven innings. He will go up against the Sun Devil's Brady Rogers, who is 8-3 with a 2.78 ERA. He's shown exceptional command, walking just seven men all year so the Bruins will have to be aggressive at the plate.
Lucky for UCLA fans, John Ramey will be in the desert calling tonight's game online. Of course, GameTracker will has the games and as is always the case, my UCLA baseball twitter has all the game updates, news, notes, links and thoughts, but there's an added option as well. Fox Sports West has a free stream of the game for those who want to watch. This is your baseball open thread so listen, watch or follow along and share any updates, thoughts and questions here.
