Looks like the Bruins have picked up another offensive line commitment on the recruiting trail. Brandon Huffman of BruinReportOnline.com reports that Corona (Calif.) Santiago offensive guard Isaiah Folasa has committed to UCLA. The story is behind subscription firewall at BRO.
The 6-foot-3, 315-pound offensive lineman doesn't have those fancy recruiting stars but did have at least another offer from Pac-12 program (Colorado). Folasa is the 10th commitment for Rick Neuheisel's 2012 recruiting class. He is the second offensive lineman in this group (Mario Yakoo committed in late June). He also happens to be a cousin of another coveted Bruin target Hiva Lutui, a 4 star, 6-3, 280 lb OG from Euless, Texas.
As mentioned above Folasa doesn't have any fancy recruiting stars yet but that could all change once he starts getting more notice on the recruiting trail.Given our history of OL in this past decade, we know first hand the urgency of having a deep roster of athletes who can come in and contribute. If Coach Bob Palcic think Folasa is someone who can provide depth and can fit in our program, then we are all for it.
If folks have other information on Folasa, please share in the comments. Otherwise, let's welcome Isaiah to Westwood.
GO BRUINS.
UPDATE (N): Some video highlights of Folasa are available here (HT garlon).
