Given the bye there was time to go through last week's photos to pull out a few focusing on defense. It's usually easier and more fun to look at the offense, but if we're going to meet expectations, the defense will have to step up against the teams with high-powered offenses remaining on our schedule.
The first sequence shows Owamagbe Odighizuwa tracking down John White and stopping him for a short gain in the first quarter.
Switching Anthony Barr to defense is one of the best decisions so far in Coach Mora's short tenure. Barr leads the team with 7.5 sacks and is third with 29 solo tackles. Here he is sacking Travis Wilson with some assistance from Cassius Marsh.
Speaking of Marsh, at the end of the first quarter he stops Dres Anderson one yard short of a 1st down forcing a Utah punt.
Owa and Damien Holmes team up to stop Wilson for no gain to end the first half.
Datone Jones is tied with Barr with 11 TFLs and is second to Barr with 4 sacks. He sets the tone for the second half sacking Wilson for a 5-yard loss.
Finally, here's Marsh again, this time registering his second sack of the season, stopping Wilson for another 5-yard loss.
Go Bruins!
