Another Saturday brings another big test, that will show if the Jim Mora era Bruins have indeed undergone a cultural change and won't play down to their competition. The Bruins will be playing the Washington State Cougars, who are 2-7 and 0-6 in conference play. However, the Cougars should never be overlooked, as they have historically played well at home in less than inviting conditions and are coming off of a players only meeting after star WR Marquess Wilson was suspended for the game.
For the 3rd straight week, the Bruins play a team who fired and hired a new head coach in the offseason. It's way too early to judge who had the best hire, but so far our head-to-head record against new Pac-12 head coaches (2-0) favors Coach Mora. Last year, the Bruins won 28-25 at the Rose Bowl.
In other news, according to the the official site,
Senior Johnathan Franklin has been selected as one of the 10 semifinalists for the 2012 Doak Walker Award which recognizes the nation's best running back. Senior Jeff Locke was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award which is awarded annually to the nation's top punter.
Kickoff is at 7:30 pm PST and will be televised on ESPN2 and broadcast on AM 570 and Fox Sports LA. The weather forecast calls for a temperature of around 30 degrees with snow in the AM so if you're a brave soul making the trek to Pullman, bring a jacket or three.
You can catch up on all of our Washington State notes right here. If you are looking to track the game online you can also keep your tabs open to the gametracker on the official website and on the WWL website..
As gbruin mentioned in the very first week we do not tolerate any personal attacks on our players. Don't be a Tuel. Don't do it. Say what you want about the play, but support the players. Also, want to remind folks that no links to illegal streams should be posted in the comment thread. Sorry, that's just a no no per SBN protocol.
After back-to-back victories against the Arizona schools, the momentum is swinging in favor of the Bruins but the team needs to overcome the less than inviting weather conditions, and leave Pullman with a W on the road without looking ahead to next Saturday. Despite missing Wilson for the game, the Bruins have been planning for the scheme and will look to shut down the Cougars' 2nd best receiver, Gabe Marks, who was a one time Bruin recruit out of nearby Venice.
GO BRUINS. Fire away!
