OK, I have written "It's About Pride: An Open Letter to our Football Players and Coaches" and posted it here. Now, we need to start letting relevant parties know about the #DefendOurLogo campaign.
I have put together a list of players, coaches, Spirit Squad, the Band, the Den and other relevant personnel at the Athletic Department, the Daily Bruin and other potentially interested parties.
For those not familiar with Twitter, a quick primer....
Twitter is a social media network that let's you communicate 140 characters at a time, kind of like a text message. A message on Twitter is called a "Tweet". When you sign up for a Twitter account, you are assigned a user name that starts with @. For instance, the Bruins Nation twitter account is @BruinNation. To send a message to someone, you put their Twitter user name into the tweet.A hashtag is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. Hashtags all start with the # sign. As an example if you wanted to communicate with Bruins Nation via Twitter, you would write the following message:
@BruinNation Hey, here's our plan to #DefendOurLogo Beat $c! http://www.bruinsnation.com/2012/11/11/3630154/its-about-pride-an-open-letter-to-our-football-players-and-coaches
Now, that's more than 140 characters, but it's actually ok. Why? Because Twitter will automatically shorten the link for you. When you're tweeting, Twitter will show you how many characters you have left.
OK, so that's your quick Twitter primer. If you have any questions about it, post them in the comments.
Just remember to include the link to the BN article and the hashtag #DefendOurLogo in all your tweets.
Here is the alphabetical list of Twitter handles I have put together. Feel free to add to this list in the comments in case I've missed anyone.
