UCLA definitely has momentum right now after winning the final two games of their series with Baylor with the Sunday win coming in dramatic fashion as they came from behind three different times. Now in game four of their eight-game homestand, 4-3 UCLA will take on 4-3 Long Beach St., who are coming off of a series win against Cal.
For the second consecutive Tuesday, the Bruins will turn to freshman Grant Watson. The southpaw struggled in the hitter's paradise that is Northridge last week, surrendering four runs in three innings. He also had problems in relief on Friday night, but he coolly got the two outs the Bruins needed out of the bullpen on Sunday so we'll have to see which Watson we see tonight. Opposite Watson will be a senior right-hander, Matt Johnson, who gave up one unearned run in 2.1 innings in his only appearance this season.
For those of you not braving the cold at Jackie Robinson Stadium, John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm have the call online as UCLA tries to build upon their momentum from the weekend. You can also get all the updates, notes and observations from my UCLA baseball twitter. This is your baseball open thread so have at it.
