It's time to start Pac-12 play and it comes against the same team that #9 UCLA closed Pac-10 play against last season, #11 Arizona St. This is assuming that the rain will hold off long enough to play the game, which is still a toss up, but let's hope that Mother Nature cooperates. The Bruins are winners of 11 straight and right now it looks like only the rain can stop them, but Arizona St. will give it a run. They're 11-5 on the year and trying to reclaim the conference title they lost last year.
Adam Plutko will be on the mound for the Bruins tonight. He'll be looking to do what he did last week when he threw a complete game shutout, striking out 11 and walking none to beat Georgia. Brady Rodgers will get the ball for the Sun Devils, a week after losing his 22 inning shutout streak in a two-run complete game performance. Needless to say, this one is shaping up to be a pitchers' duel.
For those of you not at the game, John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm have the call online so you can still listen to the contest. You can also get all the game updates, notes, observations and whatever else from my UCLA baseball twitter as the Bruins look to make it 12 wins in a row. This is your Pac-12 opener open thread so share updates as well as your thoughts and reactions here.
