Finals are over so it is back to baseball. The Bruins did not have a midweek game because the players had exams, but that is done and everyone is ready to take the field again this weekend with Washington St. in town. The 12-game win streak is history, but UCLA still finds themselves in the top 10 and looking good in the Pac-12 after a series win over Arizona St. Meanwhile, the Cougars went down to Tucson last weekend and came away with just one win despite playing the Wildcats tough in all three games.
Adam Plutko will be on the bump for the Bruins tonight as he looked to erase the one bad inning he had last week. The right-handers gave up five in one frame, then retired 14 straight so he'll look to find the form of the 14 straight tonight. Opposite Plutko will be J.D. Leckenby, who UCLA hit well last year, but he has been a completely different pitcher this year and he's coming off of a 6.1 inning start in which he shut out a very good Arizona team.
If you aren't going to the Jack tonight then don't fret. John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm have the call online so you can still listen to the contest. You can also get all the game updates, notes, observations and all the other goodies from my UCLA baseball twitter. This is your Wazzu series opener open thread so share updates as well as your thoughts and reactions here.
