Ever since falling in the opening series of the season to Maryland (who are now a surprising 9-1 and ranked 25th), UCLA has been playing some very good baseball. They've won seven of eight since then, including their last six to shoot back up the rankings to number 16. The offense has come around and the bullpen has been strong, while the starting pitching got it going last weekend too. Now they look down the barrel of the toughest part of their schedule with a trip to Georgia this weekend and the Dodgertown Classic then the start of Pac-12 play the next weekend, but not before they host UC Riverside in a Tuesday contest tonight.

As per usual, Grant Watson will be on the mound for the Bruins this Tuesday night, hoping to build on last weekend's four-inning, one-run start. He also had the benefit of coming off of an easy weekend, working just one-third of an inning way back on Friday against Sacramento St. so he should be plenty fresh tonight. He'll be opposed by Riverside's Mitch Patito, who had a fantastic shutout start in five innings two weeks ago, but surrendered three runs in four innings last Tuesday.

If it is too cold for you at Jackie Robinson Stadium tonight, do not fret because John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm have the call online. You can also get all the updates, notes and observations from my UCLA baseball twitter. This is your baseball open thread so have at it.
