It feels like UCLA only plays top 25 teams. There was Oregon over the weekend and Arizona, Stanford, Oregon St. and Purdue are all coming up with Baylor, Georgia and Arizona St. opponents earlier in the year. Needless to say, the Bruins are winning the strength of schedule game. In between all those weekend series are some midweek contests, though, and tonight's is against another top 25 team -- Cal St. Fullerton. The Titans are just a good team, but one the Bruins have a history with as a local national power. Fun times all around at Jackie Robinson Stadium tonight.

With Zack Weiss set to return to the Sunday starter role this weekend, Grant Watson will be on the mound tonight in the midweek starter spot. The problem is that he started just three days ago, but his struggles meant he threw just 32 pitches so he should be rather fresh tonight. Hopefully he pitches better than he did on Saturday, too. Opposite him will be a fellow freshman, Koby Guana, who is 3-2 with a 2.78 ERA this year. He's good for a great five innings, but doesn't go much deeper in the games than that so the Bruins will get a look at the Fullerton bullpen tonight.

If the Jackie Robinson Stadium cold is't for you then you can still catch the game with John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm, who will have the call online. You can also get all the game updates, notes, observations and all the other goodies from my UCLA baseball twitter. This is your open thread as the Bruins try to pick up a great midweek win so share updates as well as your thoughts and reactions here.
