After taking the final two games from Arizona, demolishing Cal St. Northridge midweek and winning the opener against Oregon St. on Friday, UCLA was carrying a ton of momentum. They were back on top and looking like a good bet to win the Pac-12. All they had to do was win one of the final two games in Corvallis, but they couldn't get it done. The Beavers won on Saturday and Sunday and the Bruins' momentum was gone. Tonight they host UC Irvine and besides getting the win, the goal is to get momentum back on their side before hosting Stanford this weekend.
Grant Watson will be on the mound for the Bruins and he's due for a good start. The freshman has gone back and forth from good start to bad start and after a bad start last week, he should have a good one today. Do that and he can improve on his team-best 7-1 record. Race Parmenter, who is 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA, will toe the rubber for the Anteaters.
If you're not out at the ballpark then you can still catch the game with John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm, who will have the call online. You can also get all the game updates, notes, observations and all the other goodies from my UCLA baseball twitter. This is your open thread as the Bruins try to pick up a midweek win so share updates as well as your thoughts and reactions here.
