Last night did not go as planned for UCLA. After a strong start, Adam Plutko got shelled in the middle innings as the potent Stanford offense found its groove. At the same time, the offense was striking out and leaving men on base left and right. The result was a convince Cardinal win that has the Bruins on the back foot heading into today.

This is not the type of opponent that Nick Vander Tuig wants to see, but it is who he has. A big power team like Stanford is not his ideal match-up and the Bruins might need him to be very good, not just good enough to keep UCLA in the game. That's because Brett Mooneyham, who can be utterly dominant, is on the bump for Stanford.

IIt's a great day for baseball, but if you are not out at the ballpark then listen in with John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm, who will have the call online. You can also get all the game updates, notes, observations and all the other goodies from my UCLA baseball twitter. This is your open thread as the Bruins try to get even so share updates as well as your thoughts and reactions here.
