UCLA Baseball vs. Creighton Blue Jays Open Thread

The Bruins' road back to Omaha begins tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium against the Creighton Blue Jays. They will look to get off on the right foot with a victory, starting Sophomore Adam Plutko against Creighton's Ty Blach. As Ryan wrote in our Los Angeles Regional preview, this is a team and a pitcher the Bruins had better not take lightly. Blach's 2.64 ERA will hopefully be enough to stave off any thoughts of complacency.

The Blue Jays, for their part, count themselves fortunate to be playing UCLA:

Creighton's assignment in the NCAA baseball tournament might be more difficult had the national No. 2 seed gone to LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas or Baylor.

Instead, it went to UCLA, and the Bruins will pose a mighty challenge on the field when Creighton faces them in a first-round regional game Friday at 9 p.m. CDT. Still, the Bluejays know it's not as daunting as it could have been had the NCAA shipped them to Box Stadium in Baton Rouge or Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.

"It could have been a lot worse for us,'' Creighton first baseman Nick Judkins said.

So be it. I'd rather Coach Savage's boys let their arms and their bats do the talking rather than our crowd.

The game is scheduled for 7 PM and streaming audio should be available here and video available here.
