So I hear there was some kind of perfect game or something earlier this week. Also, the MLB team from Orange County (that is not part of Los Angeles) had a nice series against actual team from Los Angeles. The actual team from LA is having a great early season BTW. All that stuff (I can't stay interested in a season that's 160+ games long) need to be put aside this afternoon, when our Bruins chase an elusive national title in baseball, opening up fourth college world series appearance in Obama.
Ryan as usual has been all over UCLA baseball, giving you every detail there is to know about the program. However, if you are jonesing for some tradmed bits here are some highlights of folks around the country (especially from New York) are saying about this afternoon's game v. the Stonybrook Seawolves:
- Sean Brennan from the New York Daily News has a preview of Stony Brook baseball taking "momentum" into Omaha. Apparently Seawolves right hander right Tyler Johnson, who is 2-1 with a 1.94 ERA in 15 starts this season, is from Chatsworth and grew up as a Trogan fan.
- Normally I don't read the trash from New York Post since it's a tabloid outlet. But sometimes their sports section is interesting. They have a usual homer headline about "underdog" Stony Brook taking "Omaha by storm." Per the Post, the Seawolves are more "like the Beatles" in Omaha. Okay then.
The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. (PT)/4 p.m. (CT) for this afternoon. We will see you all at the open thread.
GO BRUINS.
