When it comes to four-team, double elimination brackets there is one team with a huge advantage over the rest - the team that wins the first two games. That is what is on the line for UCLA and Arizona tonight. Winner only has to win one of their next two games to book a spot in the Championship Series, while the loser has to win three straight. Yup, there's a ton on the line, and maybe even a little bit more. Considering the Bruins and Wildcats shared the Pac-12 title in the regular season, this one might be considered a Pac-12 title game.
UCLA will send Nick Vander Tuig to the bump tonight. He's had consecutive sensational starts in the postseason, allowing just one earned run on six hits in 14 innings. He had a decent start against the Wildcats earlier this year, giving up three runs in 5.2 innings to earn the win.
Arizona will turn to Vander Tuig's opponent from that game earlier this year, Konner Wade. The Bruins lit Wade up for six runs, five earned, on 10 hits in just three innings, but that was way back in April. Wade has improved throughout the season and showed his best stuff last weekend with a complete game effort to clinch the Super Regional in which he allowed just two earned runs.
The game starts at 6 pm PT and will be televised on ESPN2. You can also catch it online if you want to listen to our very own John Ramey so tune in, do a little eight clap and see if the Bruins can pick up a Father's Day victory in Omaha. This is your open thread so have at it.
