Yesterday, the official decision on the players who will represent the United States in London in about a month was made final and the Red White and Blue will take on a shade of Blue and Gold with both Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook making the cut.
Though not much of a surprise considering that both men were members of the defending FIBA World Championship team just two years ago, this will be the first olympic berth for the duo, and they are the second and third Bruins to be named to any of the various incarnations of the Dream/Redeem Teams (after Reggie Miller at the 1996 Atlanta Games).
Both men are coming off of spectacular All-Star years, with the Timberwolves' Love finishing as one of the NBA's leading scorers and rebounders and the Thunder's Westbrook wrapping up a productive year in the NBA Finals. Now they'll look to defend our Olympic gold won in Beijing 4 years ago.
Congrats to Russ and Kevin.
Go USA, and go Bruins!
