Well we are half way through the long awaited first game of the Jim Mora era at UCLA. After a half the Bruins are up a score 35-24. Bruins got off a fantasy start with a spectacular first play for TD from Brett Hundley and huge run form the Jet Ski. But after getting up by a score of 19-0, the Chianti Era Bruins reared their ugly heads with stupid penalties, lack of discipline and a general mode of self-destruction that allowed the Owls to close the gap to 19-17.

The Jet Ski ripped off another huge 70 yard+ TD run to up the score to 29-17. However, except for few big plays, the hapless Owls were able to control the tempo for most of the first half against a team led by a new coach touted for his "NFL defensive experience. They racked up over 280 total yards -- just in the first half. If not for two big turnovers this could have been ugly. Speaking of ugly not sure how else to describe our special teams with 3 botch XPs and multiple screw ups in the return game. Atrocious.

Anyway, the Bruins can still close strong in this second half. Let's hope they can lock this done and make a statement heading into the big game against Nebraska. From what we have seen so far - not sure if we would have won if this team showed up in Manhattan two years ago or in Houston last year. And that is not good enough. Not even close.

Let's hope they take care of business. Here is your second half thread. Have at it.

GO BRUINS.
