After weeks of reading how the polls give the Pac-12 no respect, I have to say that this morning's polls have me feeling a lot better than I did around 4pm yesterday.
Like everyone, I felt like we really missed an opportunity and there can be no doubt that we did.
From the looks of things, if, and that's a big IF, we had taken care of business yesterday, we'd be ranked 5th in the country.
But, we didn't. Our "high-powered" offense looked absolutely uninspired. It felt like Hundley has been told not to take off with the ball. I can't tell you how many times I sat there screaming at my television, yelling "RUN!"
I digress, however.
I'm writing this post because the new polls are out and I'm pleasantly surprised.
Despite a pretty piss poor performance on our part, we only lost 3 spots in the AP poll and 1 spot in the USA Today Coaches poll. That's because 6 of the top 10 teams in the country lost yesterday.
We will not be so lucky if we get destroyed by Oregon, but if we can find a way to recover from yesterday and perhaps catch Oregon looking past us to Stanford, we could just play our way back into the BCS picture.
If there's a bright spot from yesterday, that's it.
