Hungarian Center Gyorgy Goloman Commits To UCLA

New coaching regime lands its first commit, a 6-9 center from Hungary, by way of Florida

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

NBC Sports is reporting that Gyorgy Goloman, a 6-9 center originally from Hungary who is playing high school basketball in Florida has committed to play basketball at UCLA. Since the decommitment of Trevon Bluiett (thought to be a lock for the Bruins given his connection to UCLA assistant coach Ed Schilling), Goloman is the only commitment to the new staff with just a few weeks to go before players many sign their national letters of intent on November 13.

NBC's report quotes Scout's Evan Daniels, who first reported the news.

According to NBC:

Goloman had been receiving mostly mid-major recruiting interest, with offers from the Davidson, Richmond and New Mexico, according to Scout.

Much of the reporting is behind firewalls at the moment. From what I can gather, Goloman is like many European big men: very thin but possessing some good skills.

UPDATE: Here is a video I found of Goloman, posted last month:
