UCLA Basketball Recruiting: Jonah Bolden – Another Forward – Commits to Alford

UCLA gets commitment from a 4 star forward Jonah Bolden.

Stephen Dunn

We don't have a witty phrase for basketball commits (DUNK!  SMASH!... they don't work considering the current state of our program) but Alford managed to pick up another recruit this morning in the shape of 6'8" forward Jonah Bolden, who is currently out of Findlay Prep via Australia.

You read that right, not a point guard.  Another guy in the middle.

Here are some details on Bolden's recruitment:

The 6-foot-9, 210-pound Henderson (NV) Findlay Prep forward recently cut his list to six schools -  UCLA, Louisville, Kentucky, Indiana, USC and SMU - but told SNY.tv that UCLA was among those working the hardest.

UCLA assistant David Grace recently went to Australia to visit with Bruce Bolden, Jonah's father and an American who played professionally in Australia. Bruce visited UCLA with Jonah and the player committed at the end of the visit.

"Yeah, he was down in Australia with my dad," Jonah said of Grace. "He had a good visit. I guess it was a vacation for himself but also just recruiting."

TARA: "I'll need you to to go Australia to recruit this kid, yeah we're going to go invade St. Mary's territory.  Go ahead and lump a vacation on with that trip."

Here are the video highlights on Bolden:

And an interview he did at the FIBA U-19:

Welcome to Westwood, Jonah.

This brings 4 bigs in our 2014 class - Kevon Looney, Gyorgy Golomon and Thomas Welsh.  We don't need a point guard - Balford will be here all four years!
