This story was just too good to not post for everyone to read. We know that UCLA athletes are given perks such as.. oh backpacks with their sport and number on them, which makes this story even better.
We have an old guy in our class. He came up to me congratulating me for the football win against USC. I play baseball, sir.

He gave me a high five and asked if he can talk to me after class. This is so embarrassing.
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
What do I do? Break his heart and tell him I’m a baseball player, or just listen to his lecture about football and nod?
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
I wonder what would cause this guy to think I play football when my sweats AND backpack both say BASEBALL. Hmmmmm
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
I’ve decided I’m gonna stiff arm him and head for the end zone (the door).
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
Maybe he wants to congratulate me for us winning the CWS. Nope, no way.

A few weeks ago when football was about to play Cal he shouted BEAT CAL to me & I was confused. It all makes sense now.
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
I’m gonna tell him I’m AO. I hope he asks for a picture haha @AOUCLA
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
AO = Aramide Olaniyan.
I’ve always wanted to be @AOUCLA for a day. Hey man if you get a random tag in a photo on Facebook I’m sorry.
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
Class is out in 30 minutes. I’ll let you guys know how this goes.
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
So I let the man talk. He showed me photos from the USC game and where he was sitting. I said "yeah I wish I could’ve went". He was confused
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
Oh my.
He looked at my shirt, it read BASEBALL. He looked at me 😐, I looked at him 😐. He didn’t want a photo anymore.
— Bren†on Δllen ✗ (@BrentonAllen_) December 5, 2013
Aw come on old guy! This is a member of the reigning NCAA Baseball champions! How could you not want a picture!
Good for Brenton Allen for not making the guy feel like a complete idiot for not oh, recognizing a baseball player versus a football player. I'm sure a commentary on our fan base could be thrown in here, but this is probably not the time.
Nelson Mandela passed away yesterday, and his impact can be felt everywhere.
I don think there is a way to accurately describe how much of a gift Nelson Mandela was to this world. He will never be forgotten.
