Coach Mora and staff just plucked one of the best QB prospects in the country from Florida and and received a commitment from 4* QB Asiantii Woulard (6-4, 200#) from Winter Park (Orlando) Florida.
Welcome to Westwood, Asiantii!
We have discussed the importance of bringing in a quality QB with this class, as depth was a real concern for the Bruins going forward, and U.C.L.A. looked to be behind the 8-ball in the QB recruiting process, and this was the one major hole in this year's recruiting class.
Never mind. Coach Mora and staff got the #5 QB prospect in the country. There were some early leaks last week (HT to MuirCoach) that this was happening when Trent Dilfer, the Super Bowl winning QB now analyst and Woulard's coach at the Elite11 QB Camp (where Woulard was MVP) tweeted that Woulard had committed to the Bruins, but Woulard quickly replied that he had not made an official decision.
He made it official this morning, though.
Despite only playing QB for the last 2 years, Woulard had at least 16 offers from all around the country, with U.C.L.A.'s being the most recent and prominent. He was initially a USF commit but reopened his process in December. From Scout.com:
Woulard is a quarterback with a lot of upside. He played wide receiver in high school as a freshman and sophomore before moving to quarterback as a junior. He has a very live arm, he has great size, he is a great athlete, and he has a lot of tools to like. He just needs more experience. He can improve on his decision-making in games and just get a better feel when he is in the pocket. He is smart, he is eager to learn, and very talented.-Simmons
This video shows a great combo of arm, vision, and wheels. Sound familiar, anyone?
Coach Mora and staff continue to kill it today.
GO BRUINS!
