Tonight at 6 on ESPN, #11 Arizona plays at UCLA in the last home game at Pauley this season. ESPN's College Game Day crew has been at Pauley all day and Jay Bilas will be doing the game tonight. The game is important for UCLA's chance to win the PAC 12. It is also important because it marks a number of lasts at Pauley. The last game of Larry Drew II who defied all expectations and is likely to set the UCLA single season assist record. It is a virtual lock that it is the last game of Shabazz Muhammad. Shabazz has endured more strife (now a swollen ankle) on and off the court than any recent Bruin.
And of course it is likely the last game of Ben Howland. Howland is coaching for his life right now and has to win tonight and keep on winning until late March to have any chance of coaching again in Pauley.
So will UCLA play like the better Ben Howland teams? Will they play with the magic of the last game of old Pauley where UCLA destroyed Arizona? Or will the Bruins be burned by only have six healthy scholarship players (Travis Wear is probable and Shabazz is hurting) that has been typical of the Howland of recent years? Or will the fact the Bruins have only one Senior who is a one season transfer while Arizona is led by two four year seniors come back to haunt Howland?
