Football season is (mercifully) back. Ucla did not play yesterday, but it was still a great day to be watching college football. So, here are some of my favorite college football images from the last 24 hours.
Things started out okay for our friends from South Central. Nobody slipped on horse shit running out of the tunnel, so at least they had that going for them.
No repeating mistakes from last year. Kiffin personally checked the firmness of all balls.
No reason to worry for the Southern Cal faithful. Everything is good, right?
So, Mike. Do you know any good real estate agents?
Things start to unravel a bit. Kiffin getting Koncerned.
Marqise Lee lit it up with 7 receptions for a Heisman-like 27 yards (3.9 average) against the vaunted Washington State defense.
Kiffin telling his quarterback to NOT throw it down field under any circumstance. By the way, nobody looks worried in this photo . . .
"No. Don't! I said DO NOT throw it farther than 10 yards!"
Things start to turn for the worse.
Washington State does another thing Southern Cal cannot: kick an easy field goal.
"I can't believe I took a job with another coach who is about to get fired."
Kiffin the Konquerred leaving the field.
Whose house is this?
Cougs celebrating on their new home field.
I think this is the Southern California Washington State Club.
It's not really Kiffin's fault. I mean, Halliday is an all-world quarterback. Just look at that form.
"Please don't let me be fired. Please don't let me be fired. Please don't let me be fired. Please don't let me be fired."
"Everything is going to be okay. I'm fine. Really, I'm fine. I'm used to the boos. I will be fine."
Nothing to be concerned about . . .
The post-game headline.
"We Are . . . Number 2 in L.A."
All joking aside, Lane Kiffin is in a tough spot. The sanctions have severely limited his ability to build any depth, and his quarterbacks have not shown the ability to throw down field effectively. Kiffin knows that throwing deep will result in interceptions and more points for opposing teams, but fans can't see that. Kiffin is actually making all the right coaching decisions.
I think we should divert funds from the Dump Dan billboard to the www.savelanekiffin.com effort.
