Bruins continued their practice on Tuesday in their preparations for the Sun Bowl. Coach Mora met the reporters after practice during which he emphatically dismissed the internet rumors around Texas head-coaching position. ICYMI watch it here.
Here were other Sun Bowl related notes from Mora's post-practice presser:
- Mora is treating this week as an exact "game week." He will have the team come out on Saturday and do "some type of simulated game." They will then take couple of days off for X-mas and then head down to El Paso, where they will practice another "game week." Mora mentioned that the routine this time around is different than the approach he took for the Holiday Bowl (disaster) last season).
- Mora was effusive in praise about Virginia. Not surprisingly he gushed about "Beamer Ball," which is all about great special teams and outstanding defense. He mentioned that the Hokies are an "impressive team to watch" with good fundamentals and technique. He compared the Hokies defensive front to those of Arizona State and Southern, describing them as "violent inside," who can "get up the field."
- Mora also talked about our D-line with the reporters. He is feeling good about what he is going to have near with the development of freshmen such as Eddie Vanderdoes, Kenny Clark, Kylie Fitts and return of veterans such as Owa, who sat out this year, recovering from a hip injury.
- Mora was wistful about UCLA's "impactful" senior class, who according to him set an example for rest of the program on what "work ethic" is supposed to be like. He suggested that it was up to the entire program to send the seniors with "win number 10."
We couldn't agree more.
GO BRUINS.
