Sun Bowl Notes: Bruins Land in El Paso, Breakdown of Hundley’s Film & Other UCLA Notes

News and notes from the UCLA football program as the Bruins arrive in El Paso to take on Virginia Tech in the Sun Bowl.

Bruins landed in El Paso earlier today and got a nice welcome from the officials of the Sun Bowl. Ralph Irvin has the video (posted above), which includes comments from Coach Jim Mora, Jordan Payton, Ellis McCarthy, and Jerry Neuheisel.

The video also has footage of Mora in a Mariachi hat and McCarthy, Adams, Neuheisel, and Mora, getting down on the dance floor. They were not alone. Steve Manfro was also having a good time:

This is all good as Bruins so far appear to be representing the program with class, unlike you know who.

BTW Jill Painter had an interesting piece on Mora and UCLA in the Daily News (once again dismissing the silly Texas rumors) in which there was this tidbit re. Washington's pursuit of Mora after Southern Cal's hiring of Sarkiffin:

On this newspaper's Web site [the Daily News], the number of views for stories about Mora potentially leaving for Washington far outnumbered the stories of Sarkisian becoming USC's next coach and stories about Ed Orgeron not getting the job.

Thanks again to Pat Haden for making this a joyous holiday season (at least in football) so far.

Going back to Sun Bowl stuff, a pretty cool Virginia Tech fanblog - The Key Play - continues their excellent coverage of the upcoming matchups, this time taking a detailed look at Brett Hundley. They don't think much of our guys at skill position (calling the talent level "mundane") and the offensive line (calling our big uglies "dreadful"). We will see how those guys respond to the challenge against a decent Tech defense next week.

Speaking of big guys up front, ICYMI there is a new YouTube account associated with UCLA football, it's called "Bruin Revolution." This video featuring highlight packages of our defensive line was posted in that account last week.

Enjoy.

GO BRUINS.
