UCLA Basketball: San Diego Game Thread -- Will the Bruins Continue to Pound It Down Low?

The Bruins have two more relatively easy games left, including this afternoon against San Diego, before the schedule gets tough (perhaps impossible) and pretty much stays that way for the rest of the season.

The 4-4 San Diego Toreros visit Pauley Pavilion to take on the 6-2 UCLA Bruins. Tip-off is set for 4:05PM PT. You can catch the game on PAC-12 Networks. Roxy Bernstein and Bill Walton will call the game. You can also listen on Tunein Radio or 570 AM. Follow along with live stats here.

Read the DCBruins' preview and the official guide at uclabruins.com (from which you can click to their exhaustive stats and tidbits).

It will be interesting to see whether Steve Alford continues the rotation changes that started with UAB and continued against Cal State Fullerton. Perhaps the more intriguing question is: will the Bruins continue to feed the big tandem, Looney and Parker, inside.

UCLA is an 11.5 point favorite. After UC Riverside on Wednesday, the Bruins will embark on a difficult OOC stretch starting with Gonzaga on Saturday, December 13, and continuing with Kentucky and Alabama. Gonzaga just lost to Arizona on the road in overtime, 63-66. In a very deliberate (score tied at 10-10 at the 10:00 mark and only 69 possessions each) and very close game stat-wise, Gonzaga uncharacteristically turned the ball over twice in their last three regulation time possessions and then missed three free throws when they were fouled shooting a three on their last possession.

Hold on to your seats because the conference opens up with a road trip to Colorado/Utah (and January 2) and then a home series with Stanford and Berkeley.

Enjoy the game thread with your fellow BNers and Bruins.
