UCLA returns to Jackie Robinson Stadium for a 6 p.m. PST game against Loyola Marymount. The Bruins are currently 21-16, while Loyola Marymount is 24-16.
This is the third game this season against the Lions. UCLA lost the first meeting at home, 6-1 on March 4. The Bruins won the next meeting on the road, 5-3, on April 1. Tonight's game is the final matchup of the regular season between the two teams.
Grant Dyer (5-3, 3.33) will start for the Bruins against fellow freshman Brenton Arriaga (3-2, 3.77). Dyer has started every midweek game for the Bruins, including the two prior meetings with the Lions. Arriaga started the most recent meeting, won by the Bruins.
UCLA is 4-3 in midweek games. With the schedule rejiggered for Easter, the Bruins and Dyer have not played a midweek game since April 8. Dyer has been active in relief in the interim, with a couple of very forgettable outings and a solid job to earn the victory in last Thursday's game at Utah.
LMU is 5-5 in midweek games. Arriaga started their most recent midweek game, a week ago today, and was the winning pitcher in the Lions' 7-2 win over UC Irvine.
If you can't make it to the game, you can follow the broadcast here, with John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm calling the action. You can also follow live stats of the game here. This should work for at least 5 innings, which has been par for the course for Morgan Center support of the defending national champions.
This is your Tuesday night game thread. Have at it with your observations on the game, answers as to why the live stats always freeze, and any other thoughts as the game unfolds.
