While UCLA's offense took another day off yesterday (4th time shut out this season), the 3 teams ahead of the Bruins played conference games yesterday.
In Seatlle, Washington beat Oregon 1-0, to even their series at a game apiece. Oregon's starting pitcher, Matt Krook, came out of the game in the 3rd inning. The Ducks were already fighting to overcome the loss of another starting pitcher. UCLA does not play Oregon until mid-May, so whatever happens to Krook, they will have reset their rotation (or not) by the time this series takes place, but it could be bumpy for a while.
In Corvallis, Oregon State clinched their series with Stanford by the same 1-0 score. This one took a walk-off single in the bottom of the 13th.
Washington remains in 1st place at 9-2. Oregon State remains 1 game back at 8-3. UCLA moves up to 3rd on a percentage basis with the Oregon loss. UCLA, at 6-3, is 2 games back of the Huskies. Oregon is now in 4th at 7-4, also 2 games out of 1st.
#5 Cal Poly won at home over #17 UCSB by the score of 8-7. That series is tied at a game apiece.
#18 Cal State Fullerton beat UC Davis at home, to even their series at a game apiece. The Bruins travel to Fullerton this Tuesday, after finishing their 3 game freeway series at Long Beach State this afternoon.
Go Bruins !
