UCLA Football @ UVA: Watch Parties and Bruin Gatherings in Virginia

Stephen Dunn

UCLA Football is finally here. The Bruins kick-off their season Saturday, August 30 in Charlottesville taking on the University of Virginia Cavaliers. The game begins at 9 am, pacific time and we have a list of watch parties going on around the country, at least the ones we know of. The list is growing as I type, so if you know of one we haven't listed, please put it in the comment thread. Also, if you would like to organize one or ask about your area, again, that's what the comments are for. But first let's give you our latest information on Bruin gatherings in Charlottesville.

Events & Logistics in Charlottesville:

For those of you lucky to go to the game, you might also want to check out UCLA happenings in Charlottesville brought to you by the D.C. Bruins. You can get all the information here or take a look at their UCLA Football @UVA Official Headquarters facebook page. You will notice that they have free events both Friday and Saturday night.

From the Bruins at the Biltmore: UCLA Football @ UVA Headquarters facebook page:

Heading out to Charlottesville to watch UCLA take on UVA? Make The Biltmore your Bruins headquarter for the weekend. Come join us on Friday night and Saturday after the game at the Biltmore, home to Charlottesville's only "Beach Bar" and the city's largest outdoor patio area. This will be the place to meet up with your fellow Bruins after the game and to celebrate our victory!

In addition, the Manager's dad played in the UCLA band so we will be raising funds for the Paul Carver Tiffany, Jr. Memorial Marching Band Fund which supports the greatest needs for the Bruin Marching Band, including travel, scholarships, staffing, equipment, and instruments. If you donate $5.00 to the band, you get a wrist band that will allow you to enjoy beer and drink specials all night long. You will also be entered into a raffle for some great UCLA merchandise (TBA). All proceeds will be used in support of this fund. Wrist bands are good for the night they are purchased.

As you can see the events are free. But hopefully you will contribute to the scholarship. Go Band! And you just might win something great:

UCLA Alumni of Washington, DC 4:06pm Aug 27
We've got our raffle prizes confirmed! We've got a poster signed by the team for Friday and a Jim Mora signed football for Saturday. All Bruins are welcome to enter the raffle, so make sure to get your ticket at the sign in table!

The site will serve as a headquarters for those attending the game so you might want to check it out from time to time for any updates. Kudos to DC Bruins for getting all this together!

There will are also be a Bruin tailgate at the UHall Cage lots (FREE):

After much communication and research, the consensus is UHall lots PLEASE JOIN US @The Unofficial UCLA Tailgate @ UHall Cage lots (FREE) Google Map Link >>https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zHHEV8CMnjDo.ke51B6TBI-gY

Check their site for the latest updates.

The University of Virginia's website has great information about parking, food, tailgating, and things to do before the game. Also, if you are still looking for housing, you might want to check out airbnb, especially if you are trying to economize. The N.Y. and DC Bruins are staying at the Cavalier Inn. Who knows, they may have rooms still available. Also, as a friend of mine reminded me it gets really hot in C'ville because they're always chanting U-V-A, so be sure to bring your sunscreen and hat! Okay, I just had to do that.

Enjoy and let's get this party started with a great 8-clap that even that guy in Rome can't resist:

Have a great time wherever you are Saturday and...

Go Bruins!
