College Football Afternoon Open Thread: Waiting to See Who Jumps UCLA in the Polls

With the overrated Bruins barely squeaking by lowly Virginia early in the day for those of us on the Best Coast, we get to spend the rest of this sunny California Saturday afternoon watching a full slate of glorious college football games from around the nation. We say glorious because odds are that most of the top teams won't fall flat on their face and look disorganized, confused, and overrated like Jim Mora's joke squad.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

While we wait to see how far the Bruins will fall in the polls following their pathetic showing in Charlottesville, we have a full slate of college football action to watch.

Our good friends at SB Nation put together a really handy schedule chart (with nifty links and all that jazz) to track all of today's action.  Obviously, for those of us keeping a close eye on our Pac-12 opponents, our Northern California brethren in Berkeley take on Northwestern at 12:30 p.m. PT (ABC/ESPN2), with Oregon State taking on cream-puff Portland State at 1:30 p.m. PT (Pac-12 Network), while #11-ranked Stanford really challenges themselves with an opener against our other Northern California brothers from Davis (Pac-12 Network).  But, then again, the Aggies have shocked the Trees before - maybe it can happen again.  The Clown College Trojans at Southern Cal will host Fresno State at 4:30 p.m. PT (FOX), followed by a pair of night games - #25 Washington travels out to the islands to take on Hawaii at 7:30 p.m. PT (CBS) while #3-ranked Oregon looks to put up 63+ points on Division I-AA South Dakota at the same time (Pac-12 Network).

We have a full day of college football ahead, hopefully with games more interesting than our Bruins' hapless Mazzone joke offense and Mora's overrated hype machine.  This is your afternoon college football open thread - fire away in the comment thread with what games you're watching, why you're watching them, and your thoughts, observations, and comments as we tune in to a full slate of college football action.
