UCLA Football @ ASU Viewing Parties: "We Want the Funk"

Cameron Judge Bringing the Funk. He now wears #4 - Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

This Thursday night, Bruins will be gathering around televisions around the country to watch UCLA football take on the ASU Sun Devils. Last year this game knocked UCLA out of a chance to go to compete for the Pac-12 championship. This year, ASU and UCLA are again expected to be the top contenders in the Pac-12 south.

I was driving in my car and "Tear the Roof Off the Sucker" started playing. As I listened I had images of the hits some of the young Bruins (and veteran Bruins) have been putting on the opposition. "We Need the Funk, We Gotta have the Funk!" Couldn’t have said it better myself. This is what we will need this week against ASU. So, inspired by Achilles game book, I decided to use music to pay tribute to two young men who really brought the funk against Texas: Jaleel Wadood and Cameron Judge. I would say they tore "the roof off the sucker" that Jerry built. Let’s do it again this week. It should be easier since there is no roof. By the way, there are video versions, but my mom would be upset by some of the language!

Coach Mora if you are reading this, IMHO, this would make a great addition to your practice play list!

Okay, back to our purpose here. Thanks to the local UCLA Alumni Association chapters, the UCLA Alumni Association, and members of the Bruins Nation community we have a list of viewing parties that we know about. I apologize if a chapter has posted a gathering that I did not see. Please add it to the comment thread and let me know if it is a regular location. Some groups are requesting an RSVP to make sure they have enough space saved.

Again, if you don't see a party in your area and would like to organize one, use the comments thread and/or go to the alumni network in your area and see if you can help them organize one.

In case you have not been able to keep up or just want a pre-game refresher, check out our ASU Game Hub which has practice notes, videos, and notes on the Sun Devils. There is also an twitter location leading to the game where people are updating viewing parties and other things: #uclavsasu

Have a great week and....

Go Bruins!
