As we get closer to the end of the workweek (and less than 24 hours until the first Star Wars movie in over 10 years-yes!), let see What's Bruin in the world of UCLA sports. 'Tis the season of post-season football awards, so let's start with that.
Football
The Sporting News has named UCLA's signal caller, Josh Rosen, as freshman of the year at the quarterback position. Rosen was also named to the USA Today Freshman All American team last week.
Seniors, Jordan Payton and Ka-imi Fairbairn, will play in the Reese's Senior Bowl, on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. PT. The game will be televised on the NFL Network.
Fairbairn has also been named an first team All American, as voted by the Associated Press. This is the fifth time Ka'imi has been named an All American this season by the various entities that give out such awards. Kenny Clark was named third team All American, as voted by the Associated Press.
Women's Basketball
The UCLA Women's Basketball team smashed the UCI Anteaters at Pauley Pavillion last night, 83-48, to close out their home non-conference schedule with a record of 6-2. UCLA next plays Sac State on the road this Friday.
Men's Basketball
The UCLA Men's basketball team is preparing to head to Brooklyn, New York, to face the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, in the CBS Sports Classic. A battle of two "blue blood" programs, tip off is this Saturday at 10 a.m. PT, and will be televised on CBS.
That is it for What's Bruin today. Have a great day and Go Bruins!!!
