For football fans, it's like a glass of ice water in the Sahara...
The Official Site announced the Spring Football schedule today. The Bruins will begin practice on the last day of March and will have the NCAA allotted 14 practice sessions before finishing with the Spring Showcase at the Rose Bowl on Saturday April 25. All practices will be open to the public.
The practices will be at Spaulding Field and most will be in the early morning times familiar to the players, though that makes it a bit tougher for fans to attend. After the first Tuesday practice, the practices will follow a Monday-Wednesday-Thursday-Saturday format. The Wednesday and Thursday practices will be at 7am. Mondays will be at 4:30 pm, which can be tough for the 9-5ers trying to deal with afternoon traffic. The Saturday practices will be at 9:30 and should be an excellent opportunity for fans to attend.
The Spring Showcase was held at StubHub Center in Carson last year and fans seemed pleased with the location and venue. It gave the Bruins a presence in a different part of the LA area, and the smaller venue looked better considering the attendance. However, with last spring's Rose Bowl renovations complete, the culmination of Spring Football is returning to Pasadena this year.
Some of the big news coming from Spring Football will be the debut of true freshman QB Josh Rosen. This is the first spring camp that head coach Jim Mora has entered without Brett Hundley, and it will be interesting to see how quickly Rosen develops and whether he can challenge Jerry Neuheisel and Asiantii Woulard for the starting spot by the end of Spring. Also, the Bruins new defensive coordinator Tom Bradley will get his first chance to put his stamp on the Bruins D, so it we will see what sort of defensive scheme he has in mind, and what sort of reception he gets from the U.C.L.A. faithful.
Here is the complete schedule from the Official Site:
