UCLA Basketball: Washington State Game Thread

The Bruins have two cupcakes left to play before the long wait until the start of the PAC-12 Tournament on March 11 (or 12th with a bye). They'll also be sweating out the Oregon/Stanford and Oregon/Oregon State games along with many other bubble games across the country. Washington State is the lesser cupcake amongst Washington and USC, but this game shouldn't be a problem at home, and losing is not an option.

The UCLA Bruins (17-12, 9-7) welcome the Washington State (12-15, 6-9) to Pauley Pavilion tonight. Tip-off is set for 6:31 PM PT. You can watch the game on Fox Sports 1. Kevin Burkhardt and Sean Elliot (another Arizona guy) will call it. You can also listen on Tunein Radio or 570 AM. Follow along with live stats here.

Read the BN preview and the official guide at (from which you can click to their exhaustive stats and tidbits).

UCLA is the 13 point favorite. Sounds about right -- I call this a 16+ victory for the Bruins.

The Cougars have two players to watch: Josh Hawkinson and Devonte Lacy. Hawkinson leads the conference in rebounding. The Looney/Hawkinson matchup will be one of the only interesting things to keep an eye on. WSU can throw a big lineup out there if they want to with 7'0" Jordan Railey, but Ernie Kent spends a lot of time small, with Hawkinson the only big, to speed it up. They lead the conference in possessions per game, but don't play a lick of defense. They sound like UCLA-lite in theory, but the Bruins have become a very slow team.

Enjoy the game thread with your fellow BNers and Bruins.
