BOOM! 3* QB Matt Lynch Commits To UCLA

UCLA adds a QB to the 2016 recruiting class.

@5_lynch

UCLA added another player to the 2016 recruiting class one day after receiving a big commitment from Osa Odighizuwa, the little...make that, younger brother of former UCLA DE Owa Odighizuwa.

Today's commitment comes from 3-star QB Matt Lynch from Legacy High School in Broomfield, Colorado.

Lynch is currently a 6'3" 190-lb. junior who runs a 4.7 second 40-yard dash. Last fall, Lynch threw for 1260 yards and 12 touchdowns in 10 games for Legacy and he completed 51% of his pass attempts. He also ran for 722 yards on 92 carries and scored 10 rushing touchdowns. Scout lists him as the 61st best QB in the country while 247Sports lists him as the 45th best QB. Rivals has him rated as the 22nd best Pro-style QB.

Here's his junior year highlight video from Hudl.com:

Edward Lewis of the Bruins Sports Report has an article discussing Lynch's commitment. Lewis quotes Lynch as saying:

As soon as I stepped foot on campus, I loved it. And I had built such a good connection with coach (Taylor) Mazzone, I just wanted him to be my QB coach.

I committed because they are the first school to have confidence in me. Both Taylor and Noel Mazzone and coach Mora really believed I could have success at UCLA.

According to Lewis, Lynch is embracing the chance to compete with Josh Rosen and UCLA's other quarterbacks. Lynch also said:

I also committed to compete with Josh and all the other QBs on the team. (Rosen) is a good quarterback to compete with and also learn from to make my future better.

That's certainly the right type of attitude we like to see from recruits. After all, iron sharpens iron.

Lynch also told Lewis that he's prepared to spend five years at UCLA. So, it sounds like Lynch may redshirt once he does get to campus.

Lynch tweeted his commitment out earlier today.

Welcome to Westwood, Matt!

Go Bruins!!!
