I didn't meet Fred Slaughter until the late Seventies, when he was my professor for Sports Law at UCLA School of Law. He loved to share Wooden-era trivia questions with me. One day for class he brought in a guest speaker, his old teammate Walt Hazzard, to go over Walt's NBA contract with us. Fred was a sports agent on the side. Later his wife was the nurse for my brother-in-law's father during his terminal illness. Fred was down to Earth and humble and I will always have uplifting memories of him.
