CFB Saturday Open Thread: Bama Goes to Baton Rouge

Only two games between ranked teams on somewhat of a sleepy Saturday in November, but conferences races are heating up as we turn to the last month of college football.

NCAA Football: Texas A&M at Alabama
Alabama is getting in the endzone in all three phases of the game.

Another Saturday for UCLA fans to lay off the Xanax and just enjoy watching some college football because it’s still fun, right? Yeah, it’s fun. There aren’t a whole bunch of compelling games, but a couple of big ones in the Big Ten and the SEC.

Here are a few to keep your eye on:

#8 Wisconsin at Northwestern, 9:00am PDT, ABC. As far as I’m concerned you can probably skip the East Coast nooner. But if you insist on football with your coffee, and I don’t blame you, this is the way to go I think. Wisconsin may be the best two-loss team in college football (do I hear some noise out of Auburn?). Northwestern gave Ohio State, perhaps a bit hungover from the previous week’s loss at Penn State, a run for its money. The Badgers are favored by 6 on the road.

TCU at #17 Baylor, 12:30 PDT, FOX. In the past few years, this was a game that had Big 12 Championship implications. Baylor was probably the most overrated undefeated team in the country before being exposed by mediocre Texas in Austin. TCU is reeling but Kenny Hill and co would love to hand another loss to their in-state foes.

#10 Nebraska at #6 Ohio State, 5:00pm PDT, ABC. The Cornhuskers follow their first loss of the season with a trip to Columbus, gulp. Ohio State is coming off a loss to Penn State and slight win against Northwestern. Can they get over their hangups a beat a pretty decent Nebraska team coached by our former Pac-12 friend Mike Riley. The Buckeyes are 18-point favorites in the Horseshoe.

#1 Alabama at #13 LSU, 5:00pm PDT, CBS. Ed O! Ed O! Ed O! Can he spring to life Leonard Fournette and do the unthinkable, beat Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide in Death Valley? Orgeron is aching for the head job in another interim, but Jalen Hurts is taking the Alabama offense to new heights. Is this Saban’s best Alabama team ever? Vegas likes the tide by a touchdown.
