Let's take a look at what's happening in the UCLA Athletics as we find out What's Bruin.

Baseball

Last night, the Bruin baseball team played UC Santa Barbara in a game with postseason implications.

The Gauchos scored first when center fielder Andrew Calica homered in the top of the third. They added runs in the fourth and fifth to give them a 3-0 lead.

The Bruins tied the game in the bottom of the seventh by playing small ball with RBI singles from Jake Hirabayashi, Brett Urabe and Luke Persico.

UCSB retook the lead in the top of the eighth on a one-out double Devon Gradford to make it 4-3.

While UCLA was able to get runners into scoring position in both the bottom of the eighth and the bottom of the ninth, they couldn't get the runners across and they lost 4-3.

Track & Field

Senior thrower Nicholas Scarvelis won both the shot put and the discus at the Pac-12 Track and Field Championships to earn the UCLA/Muscle Milk Player of the Week. Scarvelis set a new stadium record in the shot with a throw of 67', 4.75" on Saturday. He went on to win the discus on Sunday with a throw of 187', 10".

On the women's side, Senior Kylie Price won the Pac-12 title in the Long Jump while also setting a new stadium record with a jump of 21' 0.50".

Men's Golf

The UCLA Men's Golf team is tied for eighth place after two rounds of the NCAA Kohler Regional. UCLA shot 294 in each of the first two rounds which puts the team at 122 over par. The Bruins begin today's third and final round six strokes back of fifth place Idaho. The five teams with the lowest scores advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, OR.

Softball

The UCLA Softball team has earned the #12 national seed and will host the Los Angeles Regional this weekend at Easton Stadium. The Bruins will face Cal State Bakersfield on Friday at 6 pm. The winner of that game will face the winner of Cal State Fullerton vs. Fresno State Saturday.

Football

Last but not least, the last piece of structural steel for the Wasserman Football Center was put into place yesterday and a "Topping Out" ceremony was held. Here's video of the event:

And, that's What's Bruin.

Go Bruins!!!
