Bruin two-sport legend Natalie Williams was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame last night in Knoxville, TN.
Williams was a four-year letter winner in both basketball and volleyball. While at UCLA, she was the first woman to be named an All-American in both basketball and volleyball in the same year.
Williams led the UCLA Women’s Volleyball team to national titles in 1990 and 1991.
But, according to a profile of Williams by Dan Fleser in the Knoxville News Sentinel, Natalie always considered herself as a volleyball walk-on because her scholarship was for basketball.
After UCLA, she went on to play basketball for the Portland Power of the ABL. When the ABL folded, she joined the Utah Starzz of the WNBA and later played for the Indian Fever. She was a three-time all-star in the WNBA.
Williams now lives in her hometown of Salt Lake City and is raising four children.
Congratulations, Natalie!
Go Bruins!!!
